… ‘Adding fuel to the fire is the bizarre case of Wayne Carter, a New Jersey man who allegedly cut out his intestines and threw them at police on Sunday.

The gruesome scene played out at Carter’s Hackensack, N.J., home after police were called based on reports that the 43-year-old man was barricaded in his room with a knife and planning on harming himself, according to the local NBC station. The cops kicked in the door and ordered Carter to drop the knife. Ignoring the officers’ orders, Carter allegedly began stabbing himself in the abdomen, neck and legs instead. Alexander Kinyua Ate Kujoe Agyei-Kodie’s Brain, Heart In Maryland, Cops Say
In yet another horrifying incident of human flesh-eating this week, a student in Maryland allegedly admitted to devouring his roommate’s brain and heart …

‘Alexander Kinyua, a 21-year-old Morgan State University student, admitted to murdering his roommate Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, who was reported missing last Friday, cops told the Baltimore Sun.

Kinyua‘s father called police late Tuesday night when Kinyua’s brother reportedly found human remains — a head and two hands — in a metal tin in the basement. The brother and father left the room for a short time, but when they came back, the body parts had been moved and Kinyua was washing out the tin, the paper reported.

Officers searched the house and arrested Kinyua. The man allegedly confessed a shocking revelation: not only had he killed Agyei-Kodie by cutting him up with a knife and then dismembered him, he ingested parts of the victim’s brain and all of his heart. He then allegedly dropped most of the remains in a Dumpster behind a church in Joppatowne’ … (ici)

Corps dépecé: voici Rocco Luka Magnotta, l’homme qui fait frémir d’horreur le Canada
La police canadienne a annoncé mercredi qu’elle recherchait un homme de 29 ans, Rocco Luka Magnotta, soupçonné d’être impliqué dans le meurtre d’un homme et dans l’affaire d’un pied et d’une main découverts dans des colis postaux. Selon la police, il aurait quitté le territoire canadien …

‘Le Canada frémissait d’horreur jeudi en découvrant les détails du crime pour lequel la police soupçonne un acteur porno raté, Rocco Luka Magnotta, recherché désormais à l’étranger pour avoir tué et dépecé un homme avant d’envoyer sur internet une vidéo de son assassinat. La police a indiqué avoir des raisons de croire que le suspect avait quitté le Canada, et Interpol a lancé un mandat d’arrêt international contre lui. Le quotidien The Globe and Mail, citant des sources non identifiées, a affirmé qu’il pourrait se trouver en France …

“Un lunatique, un pic à glace”

La vidéo de 11 minutes, apparemment tournée par le suspect et intitulée “1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick” (“1 lunatique, 1 pic à glace”), avait été mise en ligne le 25 mai sur deux sites internet, dont Best Gore, devenu difficilement accessible jeudi matin. Un porte-parole de la police de Montréal, Ian Lafrenière, a dit que les autorités ont cherché à faire retirer ces images, mais qu’il était difficile d’y parvenir sur l’ensemble de la toile.

Selon des témoignages rapportés dans les médias canadiens, la vidéo montrait le meurtre, à l’aide d’un pic à glace, d’un homme nu ligoté sur un lit, puis le démembrement de son corps et différents gestes barbares auquel se livre l’assassin sur son corps. La scène est accompagnée de la chanson “True Faith” du groupe New Order, la même qui accompagne le début du film “American Psycho”.

L’identité de la victime n’a pas encore été établie avec certitude. La police pense qu’il peut s’agir d’un amant du meurtrier. Un avocat américain, Roger Renville, a déclaré à la chaîne publique canadienne CBC avoir vu la vidéo et averti la police américaine et canadienne dimanche dernier, dénonçant un meurtre. “Ce que j’ai vu dans cette vidéo dépasse les pires cauchemars”, a-t-il dit. Mais les policiers n’ont pas donné suite, jugeant qu’il s’agissait probablement d’une mise en scène avec effets spéciaux et non d’une scène réelle.

Le torse découvert dans une valise sur un tas d’ordures

Le torse de la victime avait été découvert mardi dans une valise sur un tas d’ordures dans le même quartier de Montréal que celui où habitait Magnotta. L’enquête a rapidement conduit les policiers à son appartement, où des traces de sang ont été découvertes. “C’est vraiment un crime horrible. Les enquêteurs qui étaient sur place, qui font ce métier depuis plus de trente ans, n’ont jamais rien vu de tel. Très très difficile à voir”, a dit à l’AFP M. Lafrenière.

La névrose est une affection psychogène dont les symptômes sont l’expression symbolique d’un conflit psychique trouvant ses racines dans l’histoire infantile du sujet et constituant des compromis entre le désir et la défense.

Après vingt ans de pratique médicale, pendant lesquels j’ai tenté d’exercer une médecine de la personne, j’ai été frappé par le fait que l’éducation chrétienne traditionnelle favorisait les troubles névrotiques et les maladies psychosomatiques qui en sont la conséquence.

Ma formation chrétienne, mes études médicales et psychiatriques, le fait que j’ai soigné beaucoup de prêtres, de religieuses et de “laïcs engagés” m’ont obligé à réfléchir sur les raisons qui expliquent que nombre d’entre eux souffrent de troubles organiques qui ne sont que l’expression de leur angoisse et de leurs difficultés à vivre.

Des prêtres de plus en plus nombreux quittent le sacerdoce…, les séminaires et les noviciats se vident…, et pourtant, plus que jamais les jeunes sont à la recherche de Dieu et du sens de la vie.

L’éducation chrétienne permet-elle à l’homme de s’épanouir et de répondre au message révolutionnaire du CHRIST : “Aimez-vous les uns les autres comme je vous ai aimés” ?

‘The Midnight Archive is a new web series which aims to document the exotic, the strange, the eccentric and the truly unique. Often dark and always on the fringe, the series puts an honest look into some of the most fascinating people, places and artifacts that many people are wildly unfamiliar with. The series’ creator was inspired by an institution in his hometown called The Brooklyn Observatory. In 2010 he was asked to lecture there on his collection of mid-19th century 3D Demonic Stereo-Tissues and was amazed at both the variety and the number of people that came to the event. Talking to Joanna Ebenstein – one of the proprietors of the space and creator of the Morbid Anatomy Library, it seemed that there was a growing interest in the esoteric. In modern times, you can find a stray cabaret or goth club in most modern metropolitan areas. But back in the late 19th century, your options were limited, albeit merrily deranged.

Paris of the 1890s had several supernatural nightlife options, each of them with marvelously outlandish gimmicks. In the 1899 book Bohemian Paris of To-Day by William Chambers Morrow and Édouard Cucuel, the authors visit several of the City of Lights darker drinking destinations, such as the Cabaret du Néant (“The Cabaret of Nothingness”) in the neighborhood of Montmartre.

At this gothic nightspot, visitors pondered their own mortality as they drank on coffins and were served libations (named after diseases) by monks and funeral attendees …

… But Cabaret du Néant wasn’t the only creepy nightspot in Paris. Later in Bohemian Paris of To-day, Morrow described his evening at the Cabaret de l’Enfer (“The Cabaret of the Inferno”), a Satanically themed nightclub in Montmartre that abutted another cabaret. And according to the author’s account, it was perhaps the trippiest hangout of La Belle Époque …

A performance about brainwave interference, using flickering light, inspired by Brion Gysin’s dream machine.

“We must storm the citadels of enlightenment. The means are at hand,” William S. Burroughs wrote to his best friend Brion Gysin. The means, he was referring to, was the invention of the dream machine.

A rotating cyllinder lamp-like device, which produced a stroboscopic light. You would see beautiful patterns, shapes and colours, while looking at this device with your eyes closed. Even full hallucinations have been reported.

The trippy experience provided by the dreammachine fascinated the two beat-generation artists immensly, as well as a wide range of other artists and performers, mainly in psychedelic circles.

The effect produced by the dreammachine, however was not something new. In fact it has fascinated people since the begin of time. Flickering lights and repeated sounds have always been important for spiritual rituals, to induce a trance like state. Shamans, prophets and ordinary people used the effect as an aid for meditation and expanding their conciousness…

The first time this happened, according to one theory, was when a shaman stood under a tree, when a flickering shadow fell on him, created by the leaves slowly moving the wind. When he looked up and closed his eyes the flickering of the shadows gave him a visionary and spiritual experience. This could be the reason why trees take a really important place in all religions worldwide.

There are also stories about prophets, Nostradamus for example, waving their hands in front of their closed eyes, while looking at the sun. This would give them the ability to vision the future.

The first scientist to report it was the great Jan Purkinje, 200 years ago, when he was still a child. He found out that, by looking at the sun with his eyes closed, and waving his hands in front of his eyes, ‘beautiful figures’ would appear, which gradually became more intricate.

It doesn’t really matter what method you use, be it a device, your hands or a natural source, in the end the effect stays the same. The only difference is that modern day devices give us more control over the flicker and intensity. That’s why the dreammachine was such a revolutionary device, as it made it a lot easier to experience the effect.

Brion Gysin and scientist Ian Sommerville created the dreamachine after reading William Grey Walter’s book, “The Living Brain”. Walter, a neurophysiologist, was a pioneer in research of brainwave activity. In this book he describes his experiments with stroboscopic light. He found that flicker-induced hallucinatory experiences of his test subjects seemed to be as broad and dynamic as anything experienced in the medical case histories. As suggested by himself, this effect is caused not by properties of the light itself, or by the eye, but are a product of the brain.

One theory is that the flickering is interfering with the brain’s visual cortex, attempting to deal with intermittent signal. It’s hard not to wonder if the patterns you see perhaps offer a glimpse of our own brain activity, something beyond our own senses.

In my performance I also make use of the flicker effect, but I have more control over it. The audience wears white plastic masks, this way they look into a ganzfeld, a totally white field during the performance. In my set up, I use beamers, projecting light on the audience’s masks, completely immersing them in the light and colors of the projection.

I play an 8 minute live composition, based on the varying effects of different frequencies of flicker, colour, binaural beats and sound. During the performance every spectator will see something different, varying patterns and colours, created within their own brains. I hope my performance is another little step, in the long history of flicker, but above all, I hope to give the audience the opportunity to experience this amazing effect for themselves.
